ReadyBoard-01 PIC Project Board
Last updated 18 December 2014
The ReadyBoard series is designed to make building one-off projects with
Microchip PIC microcontrollers quick
and easy. Each board in the series is intended for a different
family of PICs or targeted towards different applications.
The ReadyBoard-01 is for generic PICs with the standard 28 pin DIP
pinout. These include the 16F876, 18F252, 18F2620, and many
others. This board is not for dsPICs, which have a different
pinout.

Features
- On board switching power supply can accept wide range of AC and
DC input voltages, from 12-30V DC or 12-21V AC at 50-60Hz.
- Power input via 1.3mm jack or screw clamp terminals.
- Pads for automotive 12V power conditioning circuit. 12V
automotive power can have large voltage spikes. This circuit will
clamp spikes to prevent damage to the on-board power supply.
- Built in RS-232 interface to PIC UART. Can be powered down
and disconnected by removing jumpers.
- Pads for main oscillator crystal or ceramic resonator.
22pF crystal capacitors provided.
- Pads for timer 1 oscillator crystal and capacitors.
- 8 uncommitted high impedence LED inputs. Each input
controls two LEDs, one lit when high and the other when low. LED
drivers can be left unpowered by removing a jumper.
- Momentary pushbuttons to ground on the PIC RB4-RB7 I/O
lines.
- RJ-12 jack with PIC programming lines. Directly compatible
with Microchip ICD2.
- Power supply controller drives target PIC MCLR high after PIC
power is stable.
- All PIC I/O lines brought out to labeled double pads.
- Generous breadboard area with two rows of 50 strips of
uncommitted pads, 5 pads per strip. Horizontal power and ground
busses between and around the vertical pad strips.
- Ground plane for all parts of the board. This makes the
breadboard area suitable for high frequency signals.
- Two 14 pin SOIC footprints with labled thru-hole pads to allow
access to opamps and other chips only available in this package.
- 32 x 2 pin connector area with separate pads for connecting to
the circuit. Entire connector area compatible with DIN 41612 type
B male. Parts of the connector area can be used for individual
smaller connectors with .1" pin pitch.
- Board is standard Eurocard size, 160 x 100 mm (6.30 x 3.94
inches).
